1956: USSR sent tanks to Poznan, Poland
DATE: June 29th, 1956DESCRIPTION: This event was the Poznan protests. This was the first of several massive protests from the Polish peoples against the communist governments of the people’s republic of Poland.
BLAME: Tensions are rising as people start to revolt against the communist powers and Americans see this as an opening and as a future failure of the communist powers. There is no one to blame for this event although the idea of communism is to blame for the hardships that these people faced for years on end. People in America see this as an opening to give capitalism the boost it needs to win this Cold War. The blame here is all towards the USSR, this is due to the fact that they are sending military reinforcements to Poland, in hoping that they will become a communist state in the process. But it still raises the tensions towards the Cold War in making all these countries convert into communist countries.
TENSION INCREASE: These events highlight an uprising by the polish peoples revolting against the atrocities of the communist governments. This was one of the first signs of communism not entirely working; this results in massive protests against the government and leading to violence with its own people. +1
