1956: Suez Crisis begins with Israeli attack led by Moshe Dayan against Egyptian forces in the Sinai
DATE: October 29th, 1956 DESCRIPTION: This event was the first attack by the Israelis against Egypt in Sinai. This marks the start of the Suez Crisis. The key way into cutting through Africa without going around it making it easier for transport and shipping.
BLAME: The Suez canal offers the advantages of a short cut but through this crisis it is cut. The tensions rise as the canal is dealing with this crisis and everything is at a halt. Then crisis in the Suez canal are bad business as its major route through Africa is being blocked the Americans cannot send vital shipments through to Europe. This raises the tensions as the Soviets are to blame for this event to transpire. The blame here is due to the Israelis fighting for the Suez Canal, this is because they are the ones that started this conflict between the Egyptians and making the suppliers suffer from not using the Canal as intended, making more and more tensions rise as this even transpires.
TENSION INCREASE: This raises some issues with the use of the Suez Canal. The shipment of goods is important for keeping a good economy and keeping international relations well through trade. This incident with the Suez Crisis brings now a halt to the trade routes and the accessibility to get through and not around Africa. +2
