1949: Mao Zedong takes control

DATE: October 1st, 1949

DESCRIPTION: Mao Zedong was the communist revolutionary, politician, and socio-political theorist. That founded communist China in 1949. He governed the people’s republic of China until his death. He turned China into a single-party socialist state.

BLAME: The tension is surmounting and it gets higher and higher as the next country turns communist. The blame here is the idea of communism and of course towards Russia. Now the USA have something to fear as another country has the alliance with the Russians and take up the ideology of communism. The blame here is due to ideologies, this is because the Chinese needed a revolutionary like Mao Zedong to change its ways. This is beneficial to the Chinese as a new beginning was on the horizon. But puts the blame on them as more and more tensions rise because of a new communist state being made due to this event transpiring.

TENSION INCREASE: This was obviously a good thing for the communist. Another country in communist hands, it seemed that the domino theory was corrected and now that domino has fallen upon China as the next country to turn to communism. The allies fearing of the domino effect and seeing it first-hand to China feared that more countries would follow this path. +2
