1949: Berlin Blockade Ends
DATE: May 12th, 1949DESCRIPTION: This event highlighted the end of the Berlin blockade that ended in May 12th of 1949 and it was due to the airlift that humiliated the soviets. The news agency of TASS reported the willingness by the soviets to lift the blockade and negotiations on the 4th of May the allies announced the end of the blockade in 8 days time
BLAME: This obviously angered the Soviets that they would taunt them like that and that they would say such slander. The tension here is again rising and it leaves the communist very angered when the blockade was put down. A big plus for the Americans however as they can now start taking back the control they have for the Berlin capital now troops and weaponry, supplies and equipment can now flow through in and out easily and efficiently.
TENSION INCREASE: The USA was directly to blame for this even sparking anger to the Soviets. They humiliated them in the Airlift strategies and they were forced to back out and take the blockade down due to the airlift. The US continued to taunt them by saying such quotes as “the way is clear” or “down goes the blockade”. +1
